The Minister of Ports and Shipping of Sri Lanka Mahinda Samarasinghe and the Minister of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea Kim Young-Choon signing MoU between the Ministries of Ports and Shipping of Sri Lanka and Oceans and Fisheries of Korea on cooperation in the development of Aids to Navigation, on Monday 28 May 2018 in Incheon Metropolitan City in Korea. 항로표지 협력에 관한 양해각서 (MOU) 체결

스리랑카 항만 및 해운부 마힌다 사마라싱헤 장관과 대한민국 해양수산부 김영춘 장관은 2018년 5월 28일 월요일에 인천광역시에서 항로표지개발 협력에 관한 양해각서 (MOU)를 체결하였다. 양해각서는 사마라싱헤 장관이 인천 송도 컨센시아에서 있는 19회 IALA에 대한민국 정부의 초청을 받아 5월 28일에서 30일 사이에 방문했을 때 이루어졌다.

동 컨퍼런스 때 사마라싱헤 장관은 또한 김 장관과 양자면담을 갖고 상호의 이익과 추후 협력에 관한 문제들을 논의하였다. 면담에서 두 장관은 항로표지 관련하여 서로 교류하고 관련 기술 정보 등을 공유하는 데 동의하였고 인간 생명, 재산, 해양 환경 등을 해상 교통의 효율성 및 해양 사고 예방 등을 개선하여 보호하기로 하였다. 특히 2015년 4월에 동 두 개 부처가 서명한 해기사의 훈련 및 자격증명에 관한 양해각서를 포함한 다른 상호 이해관계에 관한 영역들도 논의되었다. 사마라싱헤 장관은 또한 스리랑카의 항만 및 관련 서비스 등의 경쟁력과 성장 전략 등을 김 장관에게 알리고 편리한 때에 스리랑카에 방문하여 스리랑카의 발전된 내용들을 직접 보고 항로표지개발 및 다른 협력 사항들을 더욱 논의할 수 있도록 초청하였다.
