Sri Lanka’s tourist attractions and culture promoted
at the Korea International Tourism Exhibition
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Seoul showcased Sri Lanka’s tourist attractions at the Korea International Tourism Exhibition (KITS), which was held at Korea International Exhibition Centre (KINTEX) from 18th – 21 July 2025.
This tourism promotion activity by the Embassy included a colourful booth at the Exhibition, which focused on promoting Sri Lanka as a single destination which offers diverse tourist attractions and experiences. Visitors to the booth were able to obtain information regarding not only the tourist sites in Sri Lanka, but also assistance to plan their visit to the country. As an introduction to the country’s culture and cuisine, they were also provided an opportunity to taste a cup of pure Ceylon tea and also try their hand at playing various Sri Lankan musical instruments.
The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Korea Savitri Panabokke was invited by the organizers of the Exhibition to deliver a congratulatory remarks at the Opening Ceremony of the event. The Ambassador congratulated the KITS for organizing the event for the 10th consecutive year and highlighted the important role such exhibitions play in promoting tourism, culture and people to people contacts. She also took the opportunity to highlight the diverse tourist attractions and culture of Sri Lanka. The Ambassador also met with Mr. Jeong Chang-woo, Chairman of organizing committee of the KITS, to discuss future plans to promote Sri Lanka as a preferred destination for Korean tourists.
Ms. Chandima Abeyrathna, Minister (commercial) of the Embassy had several meetings with travel agents and media personnel during the Exhibition, in order to promote Sri Lanka as a travel destination among South Korean tourists.
This year KITS served as a platform to promote both inbound and outbound tourism from the Republic of Kore with 209 international and South Korean companies participating at the 4 day exhibition.
