Ambassador of Sri Lanka meets with Mayor of Naju and Sri Lankan community

The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Korea, H.E. Savitri Panabokke, met with the Mayor of Naju Yoon Byung-tae on 17^th August 2025.  During the discussion, the Mayor affirmed his support to the Sri Lankan community in Naju, especially to ensure their wellbeing and safe working conditions. 

Ms. Chandima Abeyrathna, Minister and Ms. Gayani Abeykoon, Attache joined the Ambassador for the meeting.  Director General for Future Strategic Industries of Naju City Kim Min-seok and Director of Employment and Economy Division Park Deok-jin also participated in the meeting.

Great Master Venerable Hyongang Wonjin of the Jogye Order of Korea Buddhism Nokyawon and Ven. Dr. Thalgamuwe Dhammakitti thero, Chief incumbent of the Korea- Sri Lanka Mahaviharaya, which has a branch in Naju, also attended the meeting.  The Ambassador presented a plaque of appreciation to the Great Master for his services to the Sri Lankan community in Naju.

Following the meeting the Ambassador addressed members of the South Korean and Sri Lankan communities in Naju and met with several officials of the area.  This was followed by a discussion with Sri Lankan students and workers regarding issues relevant to them and the assistance that the mission could provide in this regard.
