Sri Lanka discusses migrant worker issues at the 2025 EPS Conference

 

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Republic of Korea recently participated at the 21^st Employment Permit System (EPS) Conference, held on August 6, 2025, in Seoul.

 

Sri Lanka was represented by H.E. Mrs. Savitri I. Panabokke, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Korea.  She was accompanied by Ms. E.K.C. Mangalika, Third Secretary of the Employment & Welfare section of the Embassy.

 

The 2025 EPS Conference was chaired by the Minister of Employment and Labour of South Korea Kim Younghoon. Senior officials from relevant institutions also participated including Mr. Lee,Woo Young, President of HRD Korea. Ambassadors and Labour Attaches from the 17 labour-sending countries under the EPS framework also participated. The annual EPS Conference provides these countries and the Ministry of Employment and Labour of South Korea, as well as the HRDK to exchange views regarding issues relating to migrant workers.

 

During the conference, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka actively engaged in the key discussions. While acknowledging the action already taken by South Korea , she called for the further strengthening and implementation of measures to protect migrant workers’ rights and their safety at the workplace.

 

A Special feature of the event was the recognition of Mr. K.G. Lahiru Prasad, a Sri Lankan migrant worker employed in the shipbuilding sector. He was awarded the "Best Practices Prize" for outstanding performance and contribution.

 

 

 2025 EPS සමුළුවේදී ශ්‍රී ලංකික සේවක ගැටළු සාකච්ඡා කරයි

 

දකුණු කොරියාවේ රැකියා බලපත්‍ර ක්‍රමය (Employment Permit System) සම්බන්ධ වාර්ෂික සමුළුව, 2025.08.06 වන දින සෝල් හිදී 21 වන වරටත් පැවැත්විය.

 

ඒ සඳහා ශ්‍රී ලංකාව නියෝජනය කරමින්  දකුණු කොරියාවේ  ශ්‍රී ලංකා  තානාපති සවිත්‍රි අයි. පානබොක්කේ මැතිණිය සමග තානාපති කාර්යාලයේ රැකියා හා සුබසාධන අංශයේ තෙවන ලේකම් ඊ.කේ.සී. මංගලිකා මහත්මිය සහභාගී විය.

 

මෙම සමුළුවේ මුලසුන, දකුණු කොරියාවේ රැකියා හා කම්කරු අමාත්‍ය, කිම් යං(ග්)හූන් මහතා හොබවන ලදී. එසේම, දකුණු කොරියානු මානව සම්පත් සංවර්ධන ආයතනයේ (HRDK) සභාපති, ලී, වූ යං(ග්) මහතා ඇතුළු එම ආයතනයේ ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ නිලධාරින් ද සමුළුව සඳහා සහභාගී විය.  තවද, දකුණු කොරියාව වෙත  මෙම EPS ක්‍රමය යටතේ විදෙස්  ශ්‍රමිකයින් යොමු කරනු ලබන රටවල් 17හි  තානාපතිවරු , කම්කරු නිලධාරීන් සහ නියෝජිතයින්ද  සහභාගී විය.

 

වාර්ෂිකව පවත්වනු ලබන මෙම EPS සමුළුව මගින්, දකුණු කොරියාව වෙත විදෙස් ශ්‍රමිකයින් යොමු කරනු ලබන රටවල් සඳහා මෙන්ම දකුණු කොරියාවේ රැකියා හා කම්කරු අමාත්‍යාංශය සහ කොරියානු මානව සම්පත් සංවර්ධන ආයතනයට ද (HRDK) විදෙස් සේවකයින්ගේ ගැටළු සම්බන්ධයෙන් අදහස් හුවමාරු කර ගැනීමට අවස්ථාව සලසා දෙනු ලැබේ.

 

සමුළුව අතරතුර, ශ්‍රී ලංකා තානාපති, ප්‍රධාන සාකච්ඡා කිහිපයකට සම්බන්ධ වූ අතර දකුණු කොරියාව, විදෙස් ශ්‍රමිකයින්ගේ අයිතිවාසිකම් සහ සේවා ස්ථානයේදී ඔවුන්ගේ ආරක්ෂාව තහවුරු කිරීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් ගෙන ඇති ක්‍රියාමාර්ග අගය කළ අතර එම පියවරයන් ශක්තිමත් කිරීමට හා තවදුරටත් ක්‍රියාත්මක කරන ලෙසත් ඉල්ලා සිටියාය.

 

මෙම සමුළුවේ විශේෂ අවස්ථාවක් ලෙස නැව් තැනීමේ අංශයේ සේවය කරන ශ්‍රී ලාංකික සේවකයෙකු වන කේ.ජී. ලහිරු ප්‍රසාද් මහතා ඇගයීමට ලක් කිරීම සුවිශේෂී විය. සිය රැකියාව සම්බන්ධයෙන් සිදු කළ ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමක් වෙනුවෙන් එම මහතා මෙසේ ඇගයීමට ලක්විය.
