Defence Services Command and Staff College Delegation Successfully Completes International Collaboration Study Package in the Republic of Korea

A 19-member delegation from the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Sri Lanka, headed by Major General M.S. Karunarathna, successfully completed the International Collaboration Study Package (DDICSP) – 2026 in the Republic of Korea from 27 July to 9 August 2026.

 

The study programme was organized by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Seoul, with the support and cooperation of the Ministry of National Defence of the Republic of Korea and the Joint Forces Military University (JFMU). The programme formed part of the overseas component of DSCSC Course No. 20 and provided middle-grade officers of the Sri Lanka Army, Navy and Air Force with an opportunity to gain exposure to the defence institutions, strategic perspectives, military education and defence technological capabilities of the Republic of Korea.

 

During the programme, the delegation visited a number of key institutions and locations associated with the defence and security sector of the Republic of Korea. These included the Ministry of National Defence, Joint Force Military University, National Defence University, the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in Paju, and defence-related museums and facilities.

 

The programme provided the participating Sri Lankan officers with valuable insights into the defence structure and military education system of the Republic of Korea, as well as its advanced defence technologies, strategic capabilities and experience in maintaining national security in a complex regional environment.

 

The successful completion of the DDICSP – 2026 marks another important milestone in the longstanding and growing defence cooperation between Sri Lanka and the Republic of Korea.
