Sri Lankan tea and cinnamon showcased in South Korea

Sri Lankan tea, spices and handicrafts were featured prominently at the Seoul Friendship Festival, held from 24-25 May at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul.

The Sri Lankan booth at this annual festival was organized by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in South Korea.  It is one of the key events that the Embassy participates in annually in Seoul, to promote Ceylon tea, spices, culture and tourism. Sri Lankan tea, especially pure Ceylon tea and those with tropical flavours, were in great demand from visitors at the festival.  Visitors were also provided an introduction to the various types of Ceylon Tea and its health benefits. The booth also promoted pure Ceylon cinnamon, where visitors were able to taste this “true” cinnamon and experience it aroma.  The Embassy staff also apprised the visitors of the medicinal properties of Ceylon cinnamon and its uses in cooking and cosmetics.  

Visitors were also able to see and learn about coir products, another key export from Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan booth also served to promote Sri Lanka’s handicrafts and traditional musical instruments such as the “thammatama’ and “davula” drums.  Both children and adults enjoyed playing the drums and learning about the various traditional musical instruments in Sri Lanka. The booth also provided visitors an opportunity to learn about the tourist attractions in Sri Lanka and many sought the advice of the Embassy to plan their travel to the country.  Visitors who had previously visited Sri Lanka also visited to booth to share their memories and experiences of the country.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Seoul have been participating in the Seoul Friendship Festival for several years. This year, over 67 countries were featured at the Festival, which draws over 300,000 visitors annually.

දකුණු කොරියාවේ දී ශ්‍රී ලංකා තේ සහ කුරුඳු ප්‍රදර්ශනය කෙරේ.

සෝල්හි මැයි මස 24 සහ 25දෙදින තුළ පැවති "සෝල් මිත්‍රත්ව සැණකෙළියේදී"  ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ තේ, කුළුබඩු සහ අත්කම් භාණ්ඩ  වඩාත් ආකර්ශනීය ලෙස  ප්‍රදර්ශනය කෙරිණි.

මෙහිදී දකුණු කොරියාවේ ශ්‍රී ලංකා තානාපති කාර්යාලය විසින් සංවිධානය කරන ලද ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ප්‍රදර්ශන කුටිය තුළින් තේ, කුළුබඩු මෙන්ම සංස්කෘතික අංග සහ සංචාරක කර්මාන්තය ප්‍රවර්ධනය කිරීමට මහඟු අවස්ථාවක් සැලසිණි. 

මෙම උත්සවයේදී ශ්‍රී ලාංකික තේ, විශේෂයෙන්ම සුපිරිසිදු ලංකා තේ සහ පලතුරු රසයන්ගෙන් යුත් තේ සඳහා පාරිභෝගිකයන්ගෙන් විශාල ඉල්ලුමක් පැවතුණි. සැබෑ ශ්‍රී ලාංකේය කුරුඳු, රසයෙන් සහ සුවඳින් හඳුනා ගැනීමට පැමිණි පිරිසට අවස්ථාව ලැබුණු අතර, එහි  ඇති සෞඛ්‍යට හිතකර අංග පිළිබඳව ද අවධාරණය කරන ලදී. එමෙන්ම කොහු ආශ්‍රිත නිෂ්පාදන සහ වෙනත් අත්කම් භාණ්ඩ ද පැමිණි අයගේ පැසැසුමට  ලක් විය.

මෙම ප්‍රදර්ශන කුටියට එක් කර තිබූ අපගේ පාරම්පරික සංගීත භාණ්ඩ වූ දවුල සහ තම්මැට්ටම පැමිණි බාල, මහලු පිරිස් වාදනය කිරීමෙන්  ඉමහත් සතුටක් ලැබූ අතර, ශ්‍රී ලාංකීය සංගීත රටාව පිළිබඳ අවබෝධයක් ද තානාපති කාර්යාලය මගින් ඔවුන් හට ලබා දෙන ලදී.

තවද මෙම ප්‍රදර්ශන කුටිය තුළින් ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ සංචාරක ආකර්ශනය ඇති ස්ථාන පිළිබඳ දැනුවත් කරන ලදී. ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ සංචාරය කිරීමට බලාපොරොත්තු වී සිටින අයහට තමන්ගේ සංචාරය සැලසුම් කිරීමට තානාපති කාර්යාලය විසින් සහාය දක්වන ලදී. එමෙන්ම, පෙර අප රටට සංචාරය කල පිරිස්හට ද මෙම ප්‍රදර්ශනට කුටිය පැමිණ ඔවුන්ගේ සුන්දර මතක බෙදා ගැනීමට මෙය අවස්ථාවක් විය.

"සෝල් මිත්‍රත්ව සැණකෙළිය"සඳහා ශ්‍රී ලංකා තානාපති කාර්යාලය වාර්ෂික අංගයක් ලෙසට වසර කිහිපයක් මුළුල්ලේ සහභාගී වූ අතර මෙවර එය රටවල් 67 ක සහ ලක්ෂ තුනකට අධික ජන සහභාගීත්වයෙන් සමන්විත විය.
