Employment & Welfare

The Sri Lanka Embassy in Seoul conducts several Mobile Consular & Employment Welfare Services in areas outside Seoul on an annual basis in order to provide a wide range of services to the Sri Lankan community living and working in the Republic of Korea who find it difficult to travel to Seoul for consular & employment welfare related matters.

The following services are provided by the Employment and Welfare section of the Embassy at the Mobile Consular & Employment Welfare Service:

  • Renewal of SLBFE registration.
  • Providing advisory / information services with regard to employment-related matters.
  • Providing advisory / information services with regard to prevention of illegal stay in Korea, safety awareness and benefits of insurance schemes / the National Pension Service in Korea.
  • Providing information on awareness and “Diriya Maga” programmes conducted by the Embassy.
  • Providing information on re-integration programmes conducted in Sri Lanka / Korea.

The Mobile Consular & Employment Welfare Service is sometimes held in parallel to various community events such as religious events, new year festivals, cricket tournaments, etc., which are attended by a large number of Sri Lankan employees in order to obtain the above services.

The Embassy has also taken the initiative to conduct the Mobile Consular & Employment Welfare Service at Migrant Support Centres located in different cities on a need basis, with the support of the Korean Government authorities, to enable the Embassy to enhance the outreach to the Sri Lankan worker community located in remote regions in the Republic of Korea.
