Sri Lanka explores further employment opportunities in South Korean shipbuilding sector

 

 

The Global Human Resources Management Manager of Samsung Heavy Industries Mr. Kim Jong-sam met with visiting Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Hon. Arun Hemchandra and the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Korea Savitri Panabokke on 9th June at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Seoul, to discuss employment opportunities for Sri Lankan workers in the South Korean shipbuilding sector. 

 

The Deputy Minister conveyed appreciation to Samsung Heavy Industries for employing Sri Lankan workers in their shipyard in Goeje, which is one of the biggest in the world. He also discussed means for increasing recruitment of Sri Lankan workers and how best to provide them with training in Sri Lanka. The Deputy Minister expressed the wish to further enhance cooperation with Samsung Heavy Industries, including support relating to Sri Lankan workers.

 

Samsung Heavy Industries is one of the largest shipbuilding companies in the world, and employs foreign workers, including several hundred from Sri Lanka.
