Vesak Day celebrated at Embassy of Sri Lanka in South Korea

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Republic of Korea celebrated the sacred Vesak Day in Seoul on 16^th May 2025.                       

Ven. Harispattuwe Saddhavimukthi thero, Chief Incumbent of the Mahamewnawa Buddhist Monastery delivered the sermon, highlighting the importance of the Vesak day.  Speaking of the value of the teachings of the Buddha to modern life, the venerable thero highlighted how Buddhism can help to calm the mind and enable people to face challenges in their daily lives.  He also emphasized the importance of engaging in meritorious acts and their far-reaching positive consequences.

           The Vesak Day messages of H.E. President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Hon. Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya and Hon. Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath were read out during the event.  Their messages highlighted the importance of the Buddha’s teachings and how it could help to build a peaceful and prosperous nation.

Vesak is one of the most important religious festivals commemorated in Sri Lanka where the country is decorated with beautiful Vesak lanterns. The Embassy too was decorated with these lanterns, in traditional Sri Lankan style.

Adhering to the Buddhist traditions of the country, the staff of the Embassy also donated “pirikara” and alms to a Sri Lankan temple in the Republic of Korea.

 

වෙසක් දින සැමරුම - කොරියානු ජනරජයේ ශ්‍රී ලංකා තානාපති කාර්යාලය

 

කොරියානු ජනරජයේ ශ්‍රී ලංකා තානාපති කාර්යාලය 2025 මැයි මස 16 වන දින සෝල්හි උතුම් පූජනීය වෙසක් දිනය සැමරිය.

මහමෙව්නාව බෞද්ධ ආශ්‍රමයේ විහාරාධිපති  පූජ්‍ය හාරිස්පත්තුවේ සද්ධා විමුක්ති හිමියන් විසින් වෙසක් දිනයේ වැදගත්කම ඉස්මතු කරමින් ධර්ම දේශනයක් පවත්වන ලදී.

නූතන ජීවිතයට බුදුන් වහන්සේගේ ඉගැන්වීම්වල වටිනාකමත් බෞද්ධ දර්ශනය තුළින් මනස සන්සුන් කිරීමට සහ මනුෂ්‍යයන්ට ඔවුන්ගේ එදිනෙදා ජීවිතයේ අභියෝගවලට මුහුණ දීමට හැකි වන ආකාරයත් පැහැදිලි කරන ලදී. කුසල් ක්‍රියාවන්හි නිරිතවීමේ වැදගත්කම සහ දීර්ඝ කාලීන යහපත් ප්‍රතිඵලයන් පිළිබඳව ද උන්වහන්සේ අවධාරණය යොමු කළ සේක. 

        මෙම උත්සවය අතරතුර අතිගරු ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක ගරු අග්‍රාමාත්‍ය ආචාර්ය හරිනි අමරසූරිය සහ ගරු විදේශ කටයුතු අමාත්‍ය විජිත හේරත් යන මහත්වරුන්ගේ වෙසක් දින පණිවිඩ ප්‍රකාශ කරන ලදී. ඔවුන්ගේ පණිවිඩ මගින් බුදුන් වහන්සේගේ ඉගැන්වීම් වල ඇති වැදගත්කම සහ එය සාමකාමී සහ සමෘද්ධිමත් ජාතියක් ගොඩනැගීමට උපකාරී වන ආකාරය ඉස්මතු කරන ලදී.

වෙසක් දින යනු ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ සමරනු ලබන වැදගත්ම සහ අති උත්කර්ෂවත්ම  උත්සවයක් වන අතර  එහිදී දිවයින පුරා ආකර්ෂණීය වෙසක් පහන් කූඩු වලින් රට අලංකාර කිරීම සම්ප්‍රදායක් වන අතර තානාපති කාර්යාලය ද එය අනුගමනය කරමින් ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ වෙසක් අසිරිය ප්‍රදර්ශනය කරන ලදී.  ඒ සමගම බෞද්ධ සම්ප්‍රදාය අනුකූලව ශ්‍රී ලාංකික විහාරස්ථානයක් වෙත දාන හා පිරිකර පූජාවක්  කාර්ය මණ්ඩලයේ සහභාගිත්වයෙන් සිදු කරන ලදී.
